Sir Knights,

Please support these callouts by informing all members of your Assemblies with regalia. It is the Assembly Commander's duty to get this word to his Sir Knights in an expeditious manner. Sir Knights are free to participate on their own depending on their circumstances. Please make this known. As much as we like an official Assembly representation, it is several individuals acting on their own that usually get the job done.

Vivat Jesus!

South Honor Guard Callouts:

Saturday, July 24 - The Diocese of Tucson, our Most Reverend Bishop Kicanas, requests the Honor Guard to join him at Our Lady of Lavang Parish, 800 S. Tucson Blvd., at the 6:00pm Mass with assembly at 5:30pm. There are two other callouts for this date/time. If you are not attending the others, please support this request from our Bishop. Here are additional details.

A citywide callout is made to accompany our Most Reverend Bishop Gerald Kicanas at a Mass and ceremony to dedicate our Lady of Lavang's new rectory across the street from K of C Council 1200 at 600 S Tucson Blvd.

Bishop Kicanas, a member of the Archbishop Daniel J. Gercke Assembly 0016, will celebrate Holy Mass at Our Lady of Lavang Parish at 6 P.M. on Saturday 24 July 2010. He has personally requested this Honor Guard. Our Lady of Lavang Parish is the Vietnamese Parish, established in 1999, is located at 800 S Tucson Blvd. This location is 2 blocks South of Council 1200. The pastor is Fr. Dominic Trung Nguyen.

Following Mass, our Bishop will dedicate the parish's new Rectory at 601 S Tucson Blvd. The dedication will be followed by a reception. Assembly of our Honor Guard is scheduled for 5:30 P.M. at the Church at 800 S Tucson Blvd. It is not known if after Mass, Bishop will process by foot or by car to the Rectory that is 2 blocks North.

The AZ State Council and its New Council Development Function now under SK Douglas Cameron and formerly under Worthy District Master Mike Kingman has been encouraging Our Lady of Lavang to form a new Council for over three years. Progress has been slow. A good showing by our City-Wide Honor Guard will reinforce our recruitment efforts in addition to enjoying the hospitality of our Vietnamese brothers and sisters.

Note From the Master:

CONFIRMATION SCHEDULE WITH BISHOPS

In Phoenix, the confirmation schedule is published on the events page. As opposed to previous years, the celebrant is not mentioned so we do not know which events are with the Bishop. Unlike Bishop Kicanis, Bishop Olmsted does not publish his schedule.

So please check the schedule for your parishes, ask the Pastor if he would like an honor guard for the confirmation. If the Bishop will be present, please advise your assigned Marshal and myself so we can evaluate the callouts. If the Bishop will not be present, I ask the Assembly to accommodate their Pastors. I am sorry if this seems like a lot activity for each of the 41 assemblies out there but the for the Honor Guard, this is what we do. Like the membership poster says, “Sir Knight” is not just a title. It is an honor. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT, SIR KNIGHTS.

Keep checking this website and the emails my marshals are sending to each commander, navigator, MASTER, VSM, Former VSM and former Masters. Commanders please copy your marshal when you notify your Sir Knights. It only takes one SK from several assemblies to make a good turnout. SK can report for callouts on their own. Thank you, I am very proud of you and all that you do.

A Place to Grieve. A Place to Heal—This is the inscription on the statue erected by all the Knights of Columbus in the Phoenix Diocese to reflect the Arizona State Council’s pro-life position. Fourth Degree Color Corps from all over the Diocese gathered at Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale for the parents of miscarried children. The Catholic Cemeteries make arrangements to receive aborted fetuses from hospitals and bury them in the plots. The practice of the burial of the aborted, stillborn and miscarried Holy Innocents continues today. The Memorial lives up to its motto.
